Formerly Educalme—now Breathe Grow Thrive. New name, same calming classroom tools (but better 😉).

Hey there, teacher friend. 🍎
When we first started bringing mindfulness into our own classrooms, we were desperate. We were facing high levels of student stress, unpredictable outbursts, and that mid-afternoon "chaos energy" that makes you want to hide in the staff room with a large coffee. ☕️
We thought we had the perfect solution. The next time the class was bouncing off the walls after recess, we’d say: "Okay everyone, stop! We’re going to do a breathing exercise now."
Guess what? It was a total disaster. 📉
Instead of a calm, focused room, we got eye rolls, giggles, and even more frustration.
We fell into the #1 trap of starting a mindfulness practice with kids, and today, we’re sharing it so you don’t have to.

Help your students (and yourself!) stay calm, focused, and self-regulated—with just a few minutes of breathing exercises each day.

Our biggest error was trying to introduce mindfulness only when students were already restless or dysregulated. We were treating it like a "fix" for bad behaviour rather than a skill to be learned.
Here’s the thing: Mindfulness is a skill, just like reading or math.
You wouldn’t hand a student a complex chapter book before they’ve learned their letter sounds, right?
In the same way, we can’t expect a child to use self-regulation strategies in a moment of high stress if they haven't practiced them in a moment of calm.
When a student is in "survival mode," the part of their brain responsible for learning new skills is essentially offline. They aren't being "difficult", they just haven't built the muscle memory yet.

We learned that the "sweet spot" for teaching mindfulness is when kids are already calm and open to learning. For us, that was usually during our morning meeting or right at the start of the day.
The "Learning to Read" Analogy:
The Basics: You teach the sounds and the rhythm when things are quiet and focused.
The Application: Once the skill is there, students can apply it anywhere: during a tough math problem, a playground conflict, or a big test.
By making mindful breathing a consistent, no-prep part of our daily routine, the magic started to happen.
Because we practiced when it was "easy," the students finally had the tools to return to calm when things got "hard."
We know you’re busy. You don’t have time to research curriculum or plan complex SEL lessons.
That’s why we created the SEL & Mindfulness Foundations program.
It is an evidence-based, ready-to-use online program designed to take the guesswork out of mindfulness for K-12 teachers.
We provide the roadmap so you can build a calm, focused, and well-managed classroom without the extra stress.
When you sign up for free, you get:
30+ Days of Content: A month’s worth of daily, no-prep resources.
Ready-to-Use Audio: Just press play and let us guide your students through the exercises.
Visual Supports: Beautiful posters to reinforce the skills.
Teacher Well-being: Tools designed to support your nervous system alongside your students.
You don’t need to be a mindfulness expert to transform your classroom. You just need to be a supportive colleague to your students, offering them practical tools before the storm hits.
Start tomorrow morning. Take five minutes. Just breathe. You’ve got this!
With calm and appreciation,
The Breathe Grow Thrive Team
P.S. The #1 reason teachers quit mindfulness is because they feel they "don't have time." Our Foundations program is designed to give you time back by reducing behaviour challenges throughout the day. 🙌
